Just Desserts

Van-Based Tour | Saturdays May-November | 1pm-4:30pm | $45/person

Ben Heggy Chocolate Co

Well, not JUST desserts….but your sweet tooth will be thrilled as we focus on the region’s best handmade candy, pastries, and desserts.

Why not start with chocolate!? We step inside one of the oldest chocolate-making companies in the city, Ben Heggy Chocolate Co. The hardest part is narrowing down your selection.  The fun part is watching the girls hand wrap the chocolates, an unusual and welcome sight in an increasingly automated world. Next we  head into North Canton. You’ll instantly notice that something is different at Four Kids Coffee aside from the faces (portraits) of their four kids promptly placed on the wall to greet visitors. You’ll quickly learn that all of the offerings (and there are a lot) are gluten-free. Yes, even the scrumptious desserts.  Discover the amazing story of how Four Kids Coffee got started and where their unusual concept has taken them. Here we enjoy a great sample platter before moving onto Hazel Artisan Bakery.  As soon as you walk through the front door at Hazel Artisan, cases full of freshly baked cookies, pastries, and cakes beckon your attention even before pastry chef and co-owner Lonnie Ball makes his appearance carrying wonderful sample platters made just for us. You’ll see first hand why many restaurants throughout the city use Hazel Artisan breads.  Next, head to a  newer chocolate making company, Anastasiades Chocolates where we meet co-owner, Larry Anastas.  His enthusiasm and energy are infectious and you’ll see and taste exactly why he loves his job so much. Next we take a break from eating and visit the beautiful McKinley National Monument on our way back to our starting point. After viewing the monument and amazing grounds, we finish our Just Desserts tour appropriately with the famous Bittner sundae at Taggart’s Ice Cream Parlor

Canton Food Tours VanIn between Food Stops, we talk history, architecture and more, including a stop at the McKinley Monument and West Lawn Cemetery.  Just Desserts is $45.00 per person.
